STEMology (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides GCSE maths and science tuition to UK-based students. We are the data controller for the personal information we process. Questions about this policy can be sent to info@stemologytuition.com.
2. Information we collect
- Parent/guardian name, email and (where shared) phone number.
- Student first name, school year and learning context.
- Messages you send us via the contact form or email.
- Booking information collected by our scheduling provider (Calendly).
- Limited technical data (e.g. device type) for site reliability.
3. How we use it
- To respond to enquiries and arrange trial sessions.
- To deliver and improve tuition (lesson notes, progress tracking, feedback).
- To send service-related updates to parents/guardians.
- To meet our safeguarding and legal obligations.
4. Lawful basis (UK GDPR)
We rely on legitimate interest for responding to enquiries, contract for delivering agreed tuition, and consent for any optional marketing communications.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share only with trusted processors needed to operate the service — for example our email provider and Calendly for scheduling. All processors are bound by appropriate data protection terms.
6. Retention
Enquiry data is kept for up to 24 months. Active student records are retained while tuition is ongoing and for 7 years after for legal/safeguarding reasons.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your data, and to object or withdraw consent at any time. Email info@stemologytuition.com to exercise any of these rights. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
8. Children
Tuition is delivered to under-18 students with parent/guardian consent. We minimise data collected about students and never market directly to children.
9. Security
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections and access controls. No system is perfectly secure — please report any concern to the contact above.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active families by email.
